Club Tapiz Hotel Review
We spent our last two days in Mendoza at the beautiful colonial Club Tapiz. Located on a gorgeous, enchanting 19th-century estate, the grounds feature a charming, small hotel, a winery, vineyards, spa, restaurant and olive trees.
It’s the perfect setting to enjoy some of the most incredible wine and food in the region. The main Italianate villa is surrounded by beautiful pines and palms, with the impressive Andes rising up behind. You feel completely immersed in nature, with all of the luxuries and elegance of a high-end hotel.
Our room
The small hotel has just seven rooms and we stayed in room number seven, which had a gorgeous view of the garden. The room was cosy and comfortable, with a beautiful patio and spacious bathroom.
The great thing about the estate and hotel is all of the amenities; we used the sauna, gym, Scottish shower and Jacuzzi on both days. Also the WiFi was great so we managed to work a little bit at the beautiful lounge room.
Lounge room
The Lounge Room is a vintage style room with a pinewood floor and comfortable sofas that is a lovely and cosy place to spend an evening and meet some of the other guests in the hotel.
Every night at 8pm there is a wine tasting by the fireplace, hosted by Alejandro. The tasting session was a great way to enjoy the Tapiz and Zolo wine collections and a chance to meet other travelers.
Terruno restaurant
Mendoza is well-known for its high-end gastronomic and enological offerings, but Terruno restaurant was the most exceptional dining experience we had in the region.
Located on the grounds of the hotel it was a small hop away from our room, but despite the convenience of its location Terruno restaurant was reason alone to visit Bodega Tapiz.
Specialising in local produce Terruno uses fresh ingredients from its organic garden in its fun, well-thought through menu.
While the building may be modern, it’s style and decor fits in perfectly with the 19th century Club Tapiz hotel. Their short but sweet three-course menu is accompanied by their Tapiz and Zolo wine series, which are made on the estate’s winery. Aromatic and fruity, they were one of our favorite collections of wine on the trip.
The food was equally as sensational, with every course bringing a new flavor to our palettes. Here’s what we had:
Tomato tapenade and cheese
Chubut Prawns, avocado cream, herbs and beet Carpaccio
Sweetbread in ground almonds, Tapiz olive tapenade and mixed greens
Rabbit Pie, wheat and seasonal vegetables
Lamb filled ravioli, sun-dried tomato butter, capers and walnuts from Vista Flores
And the best part: Malargue raspberry tart, Mascarpone & lemon and burrito herb
Citrus cream, dark chocolate ganache, Tuile and fruit and tomato jam with vanilla bean olive oil
Also breakfast was excellent and varied
On our very last night we opted to have a quiet dinner in the room and relax there, and we were, again, not disappointed. The room service menu is divine, with snacks and small dishes on offer. We ate the best Lomito and cheese and ham toasties in our delightful room to finish our wonderful experience at Club Tapiz.
Terruno restaurant was most definitely the highlight of our stay at Club Tapiz. The food was to die for, the service was excellent and the wines were unforgettable!
Things to do
There are plenty of things you can do in and around Club Tapiz. The area is not short of wineries, and you can borrow bikes from the hotel to explore the region and visit other vineyards and wineries.
Club Tapiz also offer a daily tour to their winery, which is well worth the visit. When you enter into the beautiful modern building you will see the latest in winemaking technology, necessary to create their famously intense wine selection. All of the wines are made with carefully selected grapes from their own vineyards, and the tour explains how they turn those vines into the wine you have been tasting at Club Tapiz every evening.

The club offers a tour of their factory and a tasting experience in Pour le Galerie, whose tour includes an insight into ancient olive oil production and machinery and the latest technology used to make olive oil today.
Also, Mendoza city is also only a 20-minute taxi ride away from the club if you did prefer to experience a bigger city environment.
We had an incredible time at Club Tapiz and we really loved the estate. It is so diverse, with its colonial hotel center, its modern winery and its fine dining restaurant – it’s definitely one of the best hotels and wineries in Mendoza for that all-encompassing wine and dine experience.
