Pousada Bucaneiro, Buzios, Brazil

Pousada Bucaneiro was our last stop in Buzios, and a great end to a perfect trip. We spent two nights in the Pousada before heading back to our Airbnb flat in Rio, and it was a fantastic hotel with excellent facilities and a peaceful location.

The Hotel

Just ten minutes walk from the city center of Buzios, Pousada Bucaneiro is a surprisingly quiet and tranquil hotel. With great connections to the Rua das Pedras, Orla Bardot and the stunning Brava Beach – the hotel is the perfect mix of the two sides of Buzios.

The open-plan style of the hotel, as well as its bright and colorful palette, adds to the fun feel of the hotel, and makes you feel welcome and relaxed.

Our Room

We stayed in the superior double room. It was on a small hill and faced the lovely pool. It was fabulous waking up with pool views and having a quick dip before breakfast.

The room was surrounded by gardens decorated with coconut palm trees, passionfruit trees, and tropical flowers. The color of the rest of the hotel was replicated on our lovely terrace area – which had comfortable sofas, dotted with bright cushions, and was a great place to enjoy the tropical paradise around us.

The room itself was large and bright. The bathroom was also very spacious, a great bonus. Everything was a clean white highlighted with a splash of a bright color on the soft furnishings, like our bright green bed cover, which linked nicely with the bright greens just outside of the room!

Pool Area

Another immersive experience is the pool area. The large pool, just outside, is also surrounded by lush greenery, and has sunbeds and your own personal shaded cabana terrace for comfort.

The pool is full of things to do, with a bar, a pool table, spa, massage room, hot tub and steam room all found in the area. You can also order lunch and drinks by the pool if you wish – which was exactly what we did on our first sunny day at the hotel.

Breakfast and Staff

The Pousada offers an enormous buffet breakfast, with a healthy variety of nuts, fruit, bread, cheese, pastries, yogurt and juices.

Our favorite part about the Pousada, however, was definitely the staff. They were all extremely helpful and friendly, and definitely enhanced our stay at Bucaneiro. They made us feel at home, and were one of the things that made our stay so special and fun.
