Our Stay at Rooney’s Boutique Hotel – Review

Located in the heart of Buenos Aires, Rooney’s Boutique Hotel is a truly one of a kind with it’s impeccable design and attention to detail. Here’s what we thought of the surprising luxury offered in this restored hotel.

Elegance and Charm

Rooney’s was once home to poet Leopoldo Lugones, so it’s located in this old colonial building and blends right in with the rest of the historic area. Off the street, we were not sure what to expect at first glance. But, once we took the old-fashioned caged lift up to the third floor, the beauty opened up in front of us. When the hotel was designed, they kept the “Belle Époque” architectural style and the wooden floors, chandeliers, and artful mirrors remain present in the hotel from the days of its original owner, but it’s now enhanced with a bar and tango patio.

A Room With A View

We were surprised by how beautifully decorated the room was. It certainly didn’t feel like staying in a hotel at all, more like an apartment room. The decorative touches were thoughtful and unique – there was even a claw foot tub in the bathroom.

The spacious room gave off a feel of subtle elegance and there was a private balcony overlooking the busy streets below -The view was truly impressive. The vintage feel and coziness of the room was a major bonus and a welcome change from a usual hotel stay.  Also the Wifi was complimentary and worked well during our stay.

Fresh Breakfast

For both mornings of our stay we enjoyed the fresh breakfast that was offered at Rooney’s. With only fourteen rooms, the breakfast was cozy and refreshing, just like the rest of the atmosphere. Fresh croissants, eggs made to order, and coffee made this a perfect start to our mornings.

Perfect Location

Besides the stunning decor, the thing we loved most about our stay here was the location. It’s right in the microcentro (city centre) and close to big attractions like the Obelisco, Plaza de Mayo , and Puerto Madero. The area is known as the Broadway of Buenos Aires, and the streets never sleep. There are excellent restaurants, milongas, and little cafes all close by that we enjoyed. We could walk anywhere we liked, and the subway was just a block away.

We had a great stay at the quaint boutique of Rooney’s. The rooms and decor offered us a unique experience, and the ambience was warm and inviting. It is certainly a place we’ll keep in mind for our next visit to this incredible city.
